Your Guide to Promotions Ceremony
As our Academy-Wide Fall Promotions Ceremony approaches, we want to answer your questions about what to expect and how to prepare. Please take a moment to review the information below — we look forward to seeing you next Saturday, September 28 at Rivertown Community Church in Marianna. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. with our academy group photo, and we anticipate the event will end by 11:15 a.m.
Families are welcome to stay for the entire event, but are able to leave after their group is promoted.

Event Agenda

Please plan to arrive early, as our ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Light breakfast will be served in the foyer.

Our Academy Group Photo is a highlight of each promotion ceremony. We ask that all members are dressed in uniform and ready for lineup by 8:45 a.m. We will invite our guests to join us for a second photo, and black shirts are encouraged.
-
We are honored that adapative athlete and author, Rebeca Denae will join us to share more about the limitless possibilities for martial arts to improve your life.
-
We will recognize our youth and adult competitors who participated in tournaments in the last year. Competitors should wear any medals they received at events.
We will also recognize our first Junior Competitor of the Year and Senior Competitor of the Year. These awards highlight one youth and one adult student who demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and performance over the prior year.
These awards will be announced annually at our fall events only.
-
The Resilient Award recognized one student in each program that demonstrates exceptional personal improvement and grit over the previous six months. These awards will be recognized with each program group and will be part of our fall and spring events moving forward.

FAQs
-
Members should attend in their white Resilient team uniforms with a black shirt or rash guard.
Guests are welcome to dress casually, but a black shirt is recommended for our group photo.
You are welcome to bring quiet toys for young children to play with during the ceremony.
-
We will have a mix of table and auditorium-style seating with the mats front and center. We ask that the front two rows of the auditorium seating be reserved for parents and guests of the program being promoted.
This is especially important for our Adaptive and Pee Wee programs so that our students can see their parents during the event.
-
Jiu Jitsu is trained as a team, but recognized individually. All of our members, no matter how new, should participate in the promotions ceremony. Members who have reached the attendance and skill requirement will receive their stripes or belt after their program participates together.
If you are new and are scheduled to begin your first class after the Promotions Event, we encourage you to wear your uniform for the academy photo.

Our teen and adult students will demonstrate the following techniques:
Two submissions from guard
Two submissions from mount
